Heat Architecture
HEAT Architecture was founded by Charles Humphries and Giancarlo Alhadeff. They have studios in London and Milan to handle architecture and design in a range of residential projects around the world, from beach houses in Portugal, to hotels in Geneva and stucco-fronted private houses in London. Although their projects often involve listed or historic buildings, their work is clean and contemporary with a particular interest in innovative materials and sustainable technology, particularly when it can be incorporated seamlessly into the design. "In our projects we always try simple measures such as natural wool insulation alongside more technological solutions such as solar water heating and invisible ventilation systems that reclaim 90% of the energy that would otherwise be lost", says Humphries, "but it is important that the design remains elegant - a linen jacket rather than a hair shirt!".
